  1. I’m looking for a film where a rich man falls in love with a maid. I read this book called ‘if you was the only girl’ it is really good and i’ looking for a film with the same kind of plot. Tank you

    • Hello! The first one I thought of was Maid in Manhattan but that’s not a period drama. 😛 There’s The Making of a Lady (TV film), based on Frances Hodgson Burnett’s The Making of a Marchioness, about an educated but penniless woman who marries an older gentleman. Mansfield Park, Pride & Prejudice, Tess of the d’Urbervilles,… Those are the few that I can think of right now where a rich or well-to-do man falls in love with a poorer (middle or lower class) woman. Sorry I couldn’t help! 😦

  2. With any adaptation of Oliver Twist, do we count them as Victorian or Regency? Dickens first wrote the story in monthly instalments starting in February 1837, King William 4th died 4 months later in June 1837.
