Period Dramas 2022

Welcome to the 9th annual Upcoming Period Dramas post (a list of historical dramas and costume dramas set in a specific time period)!

This year’s featured couple is Angel (Abigail Cowen) and Michael Hosea (Tom Lewis) from Redeeming Love.

Once again, I would like to thank my faithful readers for visiting my blog for my period drama lists over the years! I would also like to thank my readers who inform me of upcoming period dramas that I have missed and I apologise I cannot respond to emails.

As I mentioned last year, new films will be added to my imdb lists as the Period Dramas – Movies, Period Dramas – TV series, and Costume Dramas: Fairytales/Fantasy pages freeze when I attempt to update them.

The following list is in chronological order (alphabetical where no date is specified) by release date and will be updated as more films and release dates are known.

  2. I just watched Hotel Portofino. Loved it ! It’s a mix of Downton Abbey and Agatha Christie. Gorgeous settings and great scenario. A must !

  3. There was recently a series showing on BBC One called Dodger that’s essentially a prequel to Oliver Twist. It features Christopher Eccleston as Fagin

  4. There’s Pinocchio coming on Disney+ of September 9th. (Why it isn’t showing in cinemas is a question given that there isn’t a marquee name release in cinemas for 2 months).
