Starting today, visitors to the V&A’s Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams exhibition in the Sainsbury Wing will find themselves surrounded by utterly ravishing and exquisite dresses by Dior and his successors.

Those who were lucky to be in Paris for the Christian Dior: Couturier du Rêve (same title) exhibition two years ago – myself included – were enveloped in a sea of dresses, jewellery, accessories, perfume, sketches and toile. In spite of long queues, the wait was worth seeing every single piece on display at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs. Although many of the items in Paris will be on display at the V&A, there will be “some” (i.e. not a few) from V&A’s own collection. Moreover, these items will be reimagined to show the designer’s love for Britain.
For those of you who can’t make it to the exhibition, here are some of my photos from the Paris exhibition. What I’m most looking forward to seeing most is Princess Margaret’s 21st Birthday Ball Gown which had been obscured in the Paris exhibit, perhaps to protect it from too much exposure.

This exhibition is on until 14 July 2019 but I would not be surprised if it were extended. Tickets for adults are £24 for the first and last four weeks; otherwise, £22 during the exhibition.
