‘Once Upon A Time’ Stars in Period Dramas

With two days to go until Once Upon a Time S5 premieres, I’d like to introduce my fellow Oncers to the period dramas in which some of our recurring, former, and new cast members have been or will be. The following lists are in alphabetical order by the actors’ names.

Amy Manson (Princess Merida) – Ginger Corrigan in Agatha Christie’s Miss Marple (one episode), Lizzie Siddal in Desperate Romantics, Whirly Tyson in Young James Herriot.

Anastasia Griffith (Kathryn Nolan / Princess Abigail) – Elizabeth Haverford / Morehouse in Copper, Anna in The Headsman.
Barbara Hershey (older Cora Mills) – Barabara played older Anne Shirley in Anne of Green Gables: A New Beginning, Contessa Maria Alcharisi in Daniel Deronda (one episode), Madame Serena Merle in The Portrait of a Lady, and Angela in Love Comes Quietly.
Beverly Elliott (Granny) – An Irish maid in Little Women (1994).
Eva Bourne (Princess Eva) – Clara Stanton in When Calls the Heart S2.
Freya Tingley (Wendy Darling) – Wendy Darling lives in Victorian London so let’s just count that. 😉
Ginnifer Goodwin (Mary Margaret / Snow White) – Connie Baker in Mona Lisa Smile, Vivian Liberto/Cash in Walk the Line, Mrs Strunk in A Single Man, and Jacqueline Kennedy in Killing Kennedy.
Jamie Dornan (Sherriff Graham / Huntsman) – Count Axel Fersen in Marie Antoinette.
Joana Metrass (Guinevere) – Victoria’s Assitant in The Man from U.N.C.L.E. (2015), an uncredited Handmaiden in Dracula Untold.
JoAnna Garcia Swisher (Ariel) – Betty Grissom in The Astronaut Wives Club.
Julian Morris ( Prince Phillip) – Young Lieutenant in Valkyrie, Dennis Clement in Agatha Christie’s Miss Marple (one episode).
Lee Arenberg (Grumpy) – “‘Ello Poppet!” Lee was Pintel in the Pirates trilogy.
Liam Garrigan (King Arthur) – Arthur Builder in The Pillars of the Earth, Stephen Restarick in Agatha Christie’s Miss Marple (one episode), Reggie Nigrie in The Night Watch, Tony Frisco in Endeavour (2014 – one episode), Rev. Henry Jameson in Land Girls S2.
Michael Raymond James (Neal Cassidy / Baelfire) – Paul Revere in Sons of Liberty and Paul Delarue in The Salvation.
Michael Socha (The Knave) – Joe Turner in Inspector George Gently (one episode) and Private Andy Andrews in Our World War (one episode).
Raphael Sbarge (Dr Whale / Victor Frankenstein) – Kimmel’s Aide in Pearl Harbor.
Robbie Kay (Peter Pan) – A cabin boy in POTC: On Stranger Tides and Corporal Nigel Sheffield in Flight World War II.
Robert Carlyle (Mr Gold / Rumple) – King James I in Gunpowder, Treason & Plot, Hitler in Hitler: The Rise of Evil, Malachy in Angela’s Ashes, and Plunkett in Plunkett & Macleane.
Rose McIver (Tink) – Vivian Scully in Masters of Sex and Angel in The Piano.
Sarah Bolger (Princess Aurora) – Our beloved Lady/Princess Mary Tudor. Many of us Tudors fans had hoped for a romance between Sarah and Colin, who had played her dashing Bavarian suitor in The Tudors but it was not to be.
Sean Maguire (Robin Hood) – Sean was a wee 5 year old in A Voyage Round my Father (1984) set in the 1950’s and starring Sir Laurence Olivier! Wow!
Victoria Smurfit (Cruella De Vil) – Lady Jayne Wetherby in Dracula (2013), Ella Blunt in Agatha Christie’s Miss Marple (one episode), Lady Rowena in Ivanhoe.
