CONGRATULATIONS to HRH Princess Madeleine and Christopher O’Neill on their wedding!
I’d initially planned on waking up to watch the Swedish royal wedding before ballet class but I’d miscalculated the time different and woke up two hours after the wedding had started. I decided to quickly skim through the tweets and photos to have an idea of what had happened during the wedding. I’ve just watched the live coverage this evening for the wedding ceremony, carriage ride, and arrival at Drottningholm Palace. For those of you who also missed out on today’s royal wedding, take a look at the links of photo galleries, articles, and blogs. I would like to thank my royal tweeters for their excellent live coverage!
The Bride
There had been rumours that Princess Madeleine would wear Valentino and it turns out that the reports were correct! (see photo)
I’m pleased Princess Madeleine had a long train and veil. Sometimes you need fairytale weddings. 😉
Read about the dress and bouquet from the Swedish Royal Court.
I’d also like to point out that I love her smile. I’m very glad she didn’t try to ‘bleach’ her lips like some women do. It’s a lovely shade of pink and look at those pearly white teeth! 🙂
I liked Princess Madeleine’s white ball gown borrowed from her mother. Tulle embellished with crystals makes a ballerina fly!
The Family & Guests
Royal Hats created several posts on the wedding couple’s family and guests. Have a look!
- Bride’s Family & Extended Family
- Queen Silvia looked majestic (beautiful gown) and Crown Princess Victoria also looked stunning (loved Princess Lilian’s Laurel Wreath tiara). I think it would have been cute if Princess Estelle had her own baby tiara. 😉
- Groom’s Family
- Must say I liked Eva O’Neill’s headpiece.
- Danish Royals
- I agree with others that the Ruby Parure tiara would have been a better choice with the gown Crown Princess Mary wore.
- Princess Marie looks immaculate as always.
- German Royals
- I liked Princess Ursula’s and Princess Kelly’s gowns.
- Greek Royals
- Norwegian Royals
- Aside from Crown Princess Mette-Marit’s caplet, I think the gown was beautiful.
- Princess Märtha Louise’s gown reminded me of a late Victorian court dress. Loved it!
- Other Royals
- I really liked Princess Stephanie’s golden look!
- I thought Princess Hisako Takamado of Japan looked lovely in blue.
- Too bad Princess Charlene did not wear a taira.
The Kiss
The Royal Watcher has gifs of all the kisses Chris O’Neill planted on Princess Madeleine. Aww! 🙂

This is specifically why America is LAME! We only get TV broadcasts of the Windsor royal events. I ADORE the Swedish princesses yet I cannot watch footage. Good thing you captured the key points nicely for me here! Thank you!
I’m glad that the Swedish channel had it live on their site for everyone around the world to see it. I think Canada may have mentioned it briefly but we generally focus on ‘our royal family’ – i.e. BRF. 😉
I missed it but I went through my tweets and googled all the info I needed. 😉
See? I didn’t even think of the internet…Guess I’m getting old.
I’m always on Twitter. Newspapers, Television, Facebook, etc. – they are all too slow for the 21st Century! 😛
now I wonder what life would be like if I went exclusively twitter for awhile. I don’t spend much time there. I despise FB!
I deleted FB so it’s easier for me to focus on Twitter. 🙂
I’ve had months go by w/o using FB.
Good for you! I was addicted to FB. I checked it all the time (now replaced by Twitter) and became all paranoid. I loved it when I was in uni but it has no place in my adult life. People begged me not to leave FB (“Just deactivate it or go on once in a while.”) but it was time to go.
