Who’s excited for Les Miserables?
It’s one of my favourite broadway musicals (The Phantom of the Opera being my other favourite), so naturally, I am just a tad afraid that the movie may not be as good. I was already worried when I looked through the casting though there were certainly some I wasn’t too surprised about because I know they sing – i.e. Anne Hathaway (Fantine) and Amanda Seyfried (Cosette). Still, I suppose I preferred having new or rarely-seen actors in this movie. I was very happy that they’ve cast Eddie Redmayne as Marius, simply because he’s one of my favourites and I think he’s perfect! ❤ le sigh Unfortunately, I wasn’t happy with Seyfried as Cosette but I can’t think of another blonde actress who can sing so I suppose it was expected. It just doesn’t make too much sense for me that Hathaway is Fantine and Seyfried is Cosette. No resemblance (obviously) nor attempt at resemblance. I’ll be the one squirming and crying in the theatre.
Don’t get me wrong. I liked Seyfried in Mamma Mia! and In Time but I just don’t see her as Cosette.
